Welcome to Mormon World

Mormon Godhead

Are there three or is there just one? Is Joseph Smith part of your Godhead (aka Trinity)?  One doctrine that is disagreed upon all over the Christian world is that of the Godhead or Holy Trinity.  Who is part of this, are they different persons, what is the purpose, and other questions abound concerning this [...]

The LDS Church in 2008

Mitt Romney, a change of leadership (Thomas S. Monson succeeded Gordon B. Hinckley as Prophet), Proposition 8, Joseph Smith Papers, Mormon blogging and other notable headlines made 2008 a historic year for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  Though clearly not all coverage and treatment of the Mormon church was fair nor objective it nonetheless [...]

Praise to the man video

I thought the following video was appropriate as it is the 203rd birthday of the Prophet Joseph Smith. The Prophet of the Restoration was born December 23, 1805.
This is one my favorite hymns, if not my favorite, and there is always a powerful spirit that testifies of the divinity of Joseph’s calling as a Prophet of God.
Enjoy!

Lest we forget what this holiday season is all about and the true meaning and reason of why we celebrate Christmas, www.lds.org has a link entitled “The True Meaning of Christmas.”  It provides links to The First Presidency Christmas message, Christmas hymns, The First Presidency Christmas Devotional, and The Birth of Christ in the Scriptures.

During the annual Feast of the Passover, it was traditional to set one Jewish prisoner free.

The Roman Procurator Pontius Pilate was dually responsible for Jesus’ judgment and the liberation of a select prisoner.  During the trial of Christ, he appealed to the awaiting and hostile Jewish mob, asking them which prisoner they desired to [...]

The LDS Church has announced yet another new temple.  This one will be built in Trujillo, Peru.  For all the details jump on over to LDS Church News to read about it.  This is very exciting to see that President Monson will continue to bring temples to the faithful saints at an accelerated pace just [...]

Annual Christmas Devotional

It got me, again.

It was when I went to the First Presidency Christmas Devotional this past Sunday, I knew what I was going to hear – that Christmas is about Christ, doing good, and giving and not receiving.  Same old.  Yet, as always, it left me with a determination to do just that.

Specifically, President [...]

The Joseph Smith Papers

The Church’s website has been featuring a book that was released this last week called “The Joseph Smith Papers”.  I have been trying to get my hands on this for a few days now, but it is sold out of every bookstore I’ve been to.  Here are some quick facts on what this book contains:
1) [...]

Religious Conflict in Nigeria

The LDS Church has more than 80,000 members in Nigeria.  It also has5 missions, almost 300 congregations and a temple located in Aba.
Sadly there is religious conflict even in Nigeria, one of the more stable countries in Africa.  In an article I read over at Time, it talks about how Nigeria’s North is heavily Muslim [...]

Joseph B. Wirthlin a member of The Quoruom of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has passed away. He was the oldest living Apostle at 91 years old. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.  I guess it was his time to go and he was needed on the other side [...]

LA Times Opinion Piece

I thought the following article stated what others don’t say often enough: too many people get a free pass when talking about “the Mormons” when if they were to say something similar about (insert your minority or race or religion here) there would be an uproar.
The LDS Church is not new to persecution and it [...]
