Mormon Africa is a documentary about the history of the LDS Church in Africa. It includes recent events as well as information about how the Mormon Church started in Africa. This includes some of the stories of black Africans who anxiously awaited the Gospel of Jesus Christ long before the Mormon Church was even in Africa.

LDS (Mormon) Aba Nigeria Temple Closes Indefinitely Due to Violence

The LDS Aba Nigeria temple was closed recently due to violence in the area and concern for the saftey of temple workers. Though there is no timetable set for the length of the closure the situation is being addressed and for the foreseeable future the Mormon temple in Aba will remain closed.

Sister Beck Visits Mormons in India

Sister Julie B. Beck, LDS Relief Society general president, visited Hyderabad and other parts of India in 2008. While in India Sister Beck met with Mormons and counselled them regarding their lives in the Mormon Church and how to continue faithful in the Church many have joined as converts.

Mormons in Afghanistan District listen to Elder Holland, LDS Leaders

Mormons in Afghanistan had a rare opportunity to listen to an Apostle of the Lord and other LDS Church leaders via a District Conference that was recorded and sent to members throughout Afghanistan via DVDs. There are over 500 members in the Kabul Afghanistan Military District.

Mormon Young Adults Visit Namibia Parliament

Mormon young adults visited the Namibian Parliament to meet political leaders, learn more of the democratic process and share some of the LDS Church’s beliefs with Namibian politicans. The event was organized by a missionary serving in the South Africa Cape Town mission and was a great success.

Mormon Church Represented at World Religions Conference in Kazakhstan

Mormon Church leader Paul B. Pieper met with other world religious leaders at a conference in Astana, Kasakhstan. He made a presentation and also met with the President of Kazakhstan and discussed the LDS Church and some of its teachings.

LDS and Islamic leaders meet and discuss cooperative relief efforts

Mormons and Muslims have often worked togther in relief efforts throughout the world. Two examples are highlighted in the efforts to help people after the Indonesian earthquake in 2006 and the Indian Ocean Tsunami in 2004. Recently Islamic and LDS leaders met in Salt Lake City met to discuss the existing partnership in helping people throughout the world.
