As always, I’ll write a few of the highlights from my reading and the link to the official article is just below my summary. Enjoy!
- This was the first time an event like this had taken place. A full-time missionary from Australia planned the event and modeled it after similar trips in his homeland.
- Namibia belongs to the Africa Southeast Area of the LDS Church and to the LDS Mission of South Africa Cape Town Mission.
- Activities of the day included:
…personal meetings with selected politicians, a personalized tour of Parliament, lunch with legislators in the parliamentary restaurant and recognition of the group of young LDS adults during the parliamentary session by the Speaker of the National Assembly.
- Many of the youth were able to meet one on one with members of the Namibian Parliament and ask questions about the politician’s life etc. The Mormon youth were also given the opportunity to share a little bit about the Church with these leaders.
- Those attending were:
In addition to the young adults, other attendees included President Randall K. Probst of the South Africa Cape Town Mission and his wife Deanna; the Church’s National Public Affairs team for Namibia; and four full-time missionaries.
